In the 21st century
an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) forms a vital tool in the planning
of a new development and is often mandatory requirement to support a planning
application. EIAs demonstrate the client's awareness and willingness to
incorporate environmental considerations into the design especially in the
more sensitive areas. Quoin has specialist experience in working in SSSI,
ancient monuments and areas of significant archaeological interest.

Environmental Impact Assessments may typically contain: -

A review of the past activities at the site which may have residual environmental
effects, e.g. Contaminated land.

Consideration of the anticipated impact on the local ecology, e.g. Flora
& Fauna.

Assessment of existing noise levels and prediction of those anticipated
following development.

Anticipated increases in waste loadings on the local environment e.g. refuse,
cases, wastewater.

Legislative review on a project specific basis to identify and prioritise
statutory / advisory requirements.

Early discussions with local interested parties, e.g. local Authorities,
English Nature and other action groups.

Assessments of environmental effects.

Mitigating measures.

By providing an assessment of the environmental risks, an EIA provides reassurance
to both the client and the local community.
