 uoin's independent role as CDM Co-ordinator on the Design Team enables us to provide an objective view of the project. This ensures Health & Safety is given the weight that the law requires and ensures the Client and design team are able to address the liabilities that are ensconced in these duties.
"To be effective, CDM must have a positive impact on the project." The duties of the Project Team.Client's duties;  For
non-domestic projects lasting longer than 30 days or 500 person days in
total he should appoint a CDM Co-ordinator who will assist him with his
duties.
Check
the competence and resources of all appointees e.g. CDM Co-ordinators,
Designers and Contractors.
Ensure
there are suitable management arrangements for the project including
welfare facilities and that these remain in place for the duration of the
project. Allow
sufficient time and resources for all stages of the project including
reasonable lead-in time for contractors to plan the
works. Provide
pre-construction information to designers and contractors. Appoint
one Principal Contractor for each project as soon as possible.
Make
sure that the construction phase does not start unless there are suitable
welfare arrangements for the site and an adequate.Construction Phase
Health & Safety Plan is in place. Ensure
with the help of the CDMC that the plan prepared by the Principal
Contractor is project specific
and suitable. Retain
and provide access to the Health & Safety File issued by the CDMC on
completion of the works. Sign the Notification of Project Form prepared by
the CDMC for submission to the Heath & Safety Executive to confirm
that he is aware of his duties under these
RegulationsDesigner's duties;
Alert Clients to their duties under the regulations.
Consider the risks associated with those constructing the building and eliminate/reduce them.
Consider the risks associated with those altering maintaining or cleaning the building in the future and eliminate/reduce them.
Cooperate with the Planning Supervisor to pass on such risks to those effected parties. |
